Just in: Naval Chief Urges Continued Dedication from Personnel

The Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Emmanuel Ogalla, has called on naval personnel to recommit to combating oil theft and other maritime crimes. Speaking during special Jumat prayers in celebration of the Nigerian Navy’s 68th anniversary, Ogalla emphasized the importance of continued dedication to their duties.

Represented by Rear Admiral Zakariya Mohammad, Ogalla praised the efforts of naval personnel but urged them not to become complacent. He stressed the need for a renewed focus on achieving a prosperous future for both the country and the Navy.

Ogalla highlighted the Navy’s critical roles, including military, policing, and diplomatic duties, particularly their contributions to fighting oil theft and meeting OPEC quotas. He encouraged personnel to continue their dedication and uphold their commitment to serving the nation.

During the anniversary celebration, Ogalla encouraged goodwill among personnel and a renewed enthusiasm for the Navy’s future goals. He assured the public that the Navy’s current efforts would be maintained for operational efficiency, calling for prayerfulness, steadfastness, and a commitment to unity.

Ogalla acknowledged the challenges faced by the Navy but noted their resolute performance in fulfilling their duties, citing achievements in capacity building, platform acquisition, infrastructural development, and personnel welfare over the past year. He promised continued improvements in personnel welfare and operational efficiency through further acquisitions and development initiatives.

In related news, the Minister of Defence, Mohammed Badaru, announced on Thursday that efforts to improve crude oil production have led to the arrest of 1,437 suspects, the neutralization of 363 individuals, and the destruction of 3,051 illegal oil production pits by the military. 

Ogalla assured Nigerians that these efforts would be sustained, emphasizing the importance of remaining peace-loving citizens and adhering to principles that promote national unity.
