The All Progressives Congress (APC) leadership in Rivers State has urged the Federal Government to declare a state of emergency, citing a severe crisis in the region.
During a media briefing on Wednesday, APC Caretaker Committee Chairman, Chief Tony Okocha, emphasized the urgency of the situation. “Rivers State is at war. The individuals responsible for the chaos, which has resulted in numerous deaths, are well-known,” he stated.
Okocha highlighted the inability of the state government and local police to manage the escalating violence. “The governor and police are powerless. Therefore, the APC in Rivers State is calling for a state of emergency to curb the ongoing turmoil,” he asserted.
He appealed to the Federal Government for immediate intervention to restore order in the state.
