EFCC Arrests Three for Spraying Naira Notes at Delta Burial

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has apprehended three individuals for spraying naira notes during a burial ceremony in Asaba. The arrests were made by the Benin Zonal Command following credible intelligence on the suspects’ involvement in naira abuse.

The EFCC identified the suspects as Stanley Ogbolu, 35, Odiaka Sorwu, 42, and Kelvin Anyakwu, 42. According to a statement released on Friday on X.com, the suspects were caught in the act of spraying naira notes on a celebrant.

This incident is part of the EFCC’s ongoing efforts to curb the misuse of the national currency. Spraying and mishandling naira notes are considered offences under Nigerian law. The EFCC confirmed that the suspects will face charges in court upon the completion of the investigation.

In a related development, the EFCC had previously arrested a woman named Janty Emmanuel in May for similar naira abuse at a social event.
