Russia intercepted 114 drones launched by Ukraine overnight, resulting in at least one fatality, according to officials on Friday. The Russian defense ministry reported that anti-aerial defense systems destroyed 70 drones over Crimea and the Black Sea, 43 over the Krasnodar region, and one over Volgograd.
In Krasnodar, a drone strike on a heating station near the Yuzhny train station resulted in the death of an employee, Regional Governor Venyamin Kondratyev announced on Telegram. The attack also caused damage to several administrative buildings at an oil refinery in the Severski district.
Ukraine, embroiled in a conflict with Russia for over two years, has increased attacks on Russian territory, focusing on energy infrastructure. In response, Russian missile and drone strikes have severely impacted Ukraine’s energy facilities, leading to widespread power outages and necessitating electricity imports from the European Union.
