The Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) announced on Wednesday that 12 additional state government-owned tertiary institutions have joined the student loan application pool.
Nasir Ayitogo, Head of Media and Public Relations for NELFUND, confirmed that the onboarding process was completed following the successful submission and verification of the institutions’ data.
“This latest addition brings the total number of participating state government-owned tertiary institutions to 48, up from the initial 36,” Ayitogo’s statement read. “Data from 121 institutions is still outstanding.”
NELFUND urged institutions yet to submit their students’ data to the Student Verification Portal to do so promptly to enable their students to benefit from the loan scheme. The Fund also called on states with verified data to inform their students about the application process, which aims to provide financial relief to struggling students and ensure stable revenue for the institutions.
