Arsenal’s transfer pursuits remain dynamic with ongoing negotiations and emerging interests. The Gunners are diligently working to finalize a deal for Bologna’s 22-year-old defender Riccardo Calafiori. Despite being at an ‘advanced’ stage, talks have encountered difficulties due to Bologna’s firm demand of £43 million, which Arsenal is hesitant to meet.
Meanwhile, Real Sociedad’s 28-year-old midfielder Mikel Merino has caught the attention of Mikel Arteta as a potentially more affordable alternative to Martin Zubimendi. In addition, Athletic Bilbao and Spain winger Nico Williams has also piqued Arteta’s interest. However, Barcelona appears to be leading the race for Williams, and Arsenal might need to offload some players to finance a competitive bid for the Spanish star.
Among those potentially on their way out, Emile Smith Rowe has attracted interest from Fulham and Crystal Palace, positioning him as a candidate for departure to facilitate Arsenal’s transfer ambitions.
