Breaking News, Pres. Tinubu Steps Down As ECOWAS President

ECOWAS Leaders Convene in Abuja for 63rd Ordinary Summit

As President Bola Tinubu’s term as Chairman of the ECOWAS Authority of Heads of State and Government approaches its end on July 9, 2024, leaders and representatives from 12 member states are gathered at the State House Conference Centre for the 63rd Ordinary Summit.

The summit, which commenced at 1 PM, is expected to address the appointment of a new chairperson to lead the West African regional bloc for the coming year. However, there are suggestions that Tinubu’s tenure might be extended to provide him additional time to potentially reintegrate Niger, Mali, and Burkina Faso into ECOWAS.

Further updates to follow.
