Cardi B Sets New Record as Highest-Certified Female Rapper in US History

In a significant milestone, rapper Cardi B has outsold her rival, Nicki Minaj, in the United States. According to the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA), Cardi B has achieved 107 million credited units, surpassing Nicki Minaj’s 106 million units.

Although Minaj has sold more records overall, many of her hits were features and not credited to her on the RIAA site.

In other music news, Alicia Keys has achieved her first diamond single in the U.S. Her 2009 hit collaboration with JAY-Z, “Empire State of Mind,” has been certified diamond by the RIAA for selling 10 million units. This marks JAY-Z’s third diamond single, alongside “N****s In Paris” with Kanye West and “Umbrella” with Rihanna.

Across the Atlantic, Eminem has been honored with the Brit Billion Award for becoming the best-selling American rapper in the United Kingdom, with 7 billion UK career streams. The BRIT Awards tweeted, “Four times a BRIT Award winner, @Eminem receives a BRIT Billion Award having achieved 7 billion UK career streams!” along with a picture of Eminem holding the award.
