Renowned American rapper Cardi B has made a public appeal for a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas, the militant group engaged in the conflict in Gaza. Since the hostilities erupted on October 7, thousands have been killed and many more displaced.
Elliptical News reports that Cardi B has urged the U.S. government to intervene in the conflict, stating she would only endorse a candidate in the upcoming presidential election if a ceasefire is achieved in Gaza.
During a recent interaction with fans on social media, Cardi B expressed her desire for peace: “I want a ceasefire. I want a peaceful treaty between Palestine and Israel. I want innocent people to stop dying, that’s all I want. If that can happen, I’ll support anybody.”
Previously, in an interview with Rolling Stone in May, Cardi B declared she would abstain from voting in the November election if the main contenders were President Joe Biden and his predecessor, Donald Trump. However, in a recent development, President Biden announced he would not seek re-election and endorsed his vice president, Kamala Harris, as the Democratic candidate.
Cardi B has welcomed this news, expressing her anticipation on social media.
