Abbas Tajudeen, Speaker of the House of Representatives, has scheduled an emergency plenary session on Wednesday in anticipation of a planned nationwide protest. The Clerk of the House, Yahaya Danzaria, issued the session notice to House members through a memo.
Previously, the House had adjourned until September for their long recess. However, the need for this urgent session has prompted an earlier reconvening.
While Danzaria’s memo did not specify the session’s agenda, House spokesperson Akin Rotimi confirmed that the meeting will address a crucial national issue. “It is customary for the House to reconvene from recess to address pressing national issues. The forthcoming session will focus on critical matters requiring immediate legislative attention. Honourable Members are expected to make the necessary arrangements to ensure their presence,” Rotimi stated.
This session precedes the planned nationwide protest set to begin on Thursday.
