Chelsea Football Club has introduced its new home kit for the upcoming 2024-25 Premier League season, sparking immediate debate among fans. The bold design, created by Nike, features a ‘blue flame’ theme across both the shirt and shorts.
The kit’s design centers on the concept that “the hottest part of the flame burns blue,” with a swirling, shimmering graphic over a vibrant blue background. According to Chelsea’s social media posts, the flame graphic represents the “melting pot” of London culture, while liquid silver flecks and ripples signify the club’s rich history and success.
Adding to the fiery theme, the sleeves and shorts are accented with thin white and bright orange trim, symbolizing the “fresh fire” of emerging talent from the club’s Cobham training center. The kit also includes an iridescent, embossed club crest and logos, now tinted in silvery blue instead of last season’s gold.
Despite the striking design, the new kit has divided opinions among Chelsea supporters. Some fans have labeled it as “historically bad,” though the club has reminded them of previous contentious designs, such as the “Op Art” shirt from the 2021-22 season.
Notably, the new kit currently lacks a main sponsor on the front. Chelsea’s previous £40 million agreement with sports technology company Infinite Athlete expired at the end of last season. This mirrors last summer when the Blues began the 2023-24 season without a shirt sponsor, later securing a deal with Infinite Athlete six weeks into the campaign.
