Indianapolis Road Rage Turns Deadly as Armed Man Shot by Confronted Driver

A heated road rage incident ended in tragedy when a man wielding a gun was shot dead by the driver he confronted. The dramatic encounter was captured on video by a bystander.

On the evening of July 16, 29-year-old Gavin Dasaur approached a white Chevy pickup truck at the intersection of South Emerson Avenue and Thompson Road. Dasaur, armed with a handgun, attempted to punch the truck’s driver. The driver deflected the punch and, in a swift response, drew his own firearm and shot Dasaur multiple times, causing him to collapse.

The incident, recorded in a seven-second video, shows Dasaur aggressively pointing and shouting at the driver before the fatal shots were fired. The bystander who filmed the event quickly took cover in their own vehicle.

The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department reported that the shooting occurred around 8:15 p.m. Witnesses confirmed that the altercation stemmed from a road rage dispute between Dasaur, who was driving a black Honda, and the driver of the Chevy truck.

Initially detained, the Chevy driver was later released as investigators suggested the shooting might have been an act of self-defense.

Cinthya ZaMora, Dasaur’s wife, expressed her sorrow and condemned the incident. “He was a hardworking man who always went out of his way to help anyone and wanted to give the world to me and his family,” she said in a statement.
