In a candid post-match interview, Australia’s forward Alanna Smith acknowledged that the Opals were outmatched by D’Tigress’s physical play in their Group B matchup at the 2024 Olympic Games.
The Australian team suffered a 75-62 loss to Rena Wakama’s squad.
Smith highlighted turnovers as a key issue in their performance.
“Turnovers were the decisive factor,” Smith stated. “We gave the ball away too often and couldn’t cope with the physical demands of the game.”
Australia’s next challenge is against Canada, while Nigeria will face the host nation, France.
