 2001: Derico Nwamama Beheaded for Reign of Terror in Southeast Nigeria

On this day in 2001, Okwudili Ndiwe, infamously known as Derico Nwamama, met his end when he was beheaded. Derico Nwamama, at just 22 years old, had become one of the most feared criminals in the South East region of Nigeria, particularly during the late 1990s and early 2000s.

Derico’s criminal journey began in Onitsha, where he started as a street urchin. Over time, he transitioned from a petty pickpocket to a notorious and dreaded figure in the criminal underworld. His name became synonymous with fear and terror as he orchestrated numerous crimes that plagued the region.

The end of Derico Nwamama marked a significant moment in the fight against crime in the South East, bringing relief to many who had lived in constant fear of his actions.
