Bangladeshi Parliament Dissolved Following Violent Protests

In a significant turn of events, Bangladesh’s parliament has been dissolved after Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina resigned and fled the country amid violent protests demanding her removal.

The president’s office announced the dissolution on Tuesday, hours after student leaders set a deadline for the government to act, threatening severe measures if their demands were not met.

According to ELLIPTICAL NEWS, Prime Minister Hasina resigned on Monday following weeks of intense student-led protests that resulted in over 300 deaths. The news of her resignation triggered attacks and looting of Awami League offices and leaders’ residences across Dhaka and other regions.

In a news briefing on Monday, Army Chief Gen. Waker-Uz-Zaman, after meeting with leaders from various political parties except the Awami League, urged protesting students to remain calm and avoid further violence. He assured the public that justice would be served for the killings and atrocities, appealing for confidence in the army’s efforts to restore order.
