Tragic Accident in San Antonio: Man Fatally Shoots Himself After Slipping in Mud

 In a tragic accident, a Texas man fatally shot himself while taking out the trash, authorities reported.

First responders received an emergency call around 6 a.m. on Tuesday, August 6, after the man was discovered unresponsive at an apartment complex on the city’s north side, according to a police statement.

The 58-year-old man, carrying both his garbage and a handgun, slipped on mud and fell down a small hill. During the fall, the gun discharged, striking him in the chest, police said.

The circumstances surrounding the gun’s discharge remain unclear, including whether the man was holding the pistol or if it was in a pocket or holster at the time.

The man was transported to a hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. A neighbor recounted hearing the man cry out after the gunshot, and her brother ran outside to assist.
