Nigeria’s Tobi Amusan has commenced her pursuit of an Olympic medal at the Paris 2024 Games by securing first place in the women’s 100m hurdles heat.
Amusan, who holds the world record in the event, delivered an impressive performance, clocking 12.49 seconds despite starting in lane 9, as reported by makingofchamps.com. Her commanding run saw Alysha Johnson finish second in 12.61 seconds and Janeek Brown third in 12.84 seconds.
With this victory, Amusan advances to the semifinals of the women’s 100m hurdles. The athlete, who debuted at the Olympics in Tokyo three years ago, set the world record of 12.12 seconds at the 2022 World Athletics Championships in Eugene, Oregon.
