Nigerian badminton star Anuoluwapo Opeyori faced a challenging start at the Paris 2024 Olympics, losing his initial match 2-0 to Switzerland’s Tobias Kuenzi in the men’s singles on Tuesday.
The 27-year-old Opeyori put up a strong fight in the first set but narrowly lost 22-20. Kuenzi dominated the second set, winning 21-14 to secure the victory.
Opeyori is set to return to the court on Wednesday to compete against China’s SF Li. He must secure a win in this match to advance to the next round.
