$6.2 million moved from CBN with forged Signatures – Court

 

During a forensic document examiner seconded by the (EFCC) Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, under the office of Bamaiyi Haruna on Thursday, 7th March, 2034. said the analysis carried out on the documents used to release $6.2m from the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) in February 2023 showed that they were forged accordingly. 

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) alleged that on February 8, 2023, that ex Central Bank of Nigeria governor, in person of Godwin Emefiele…connived with one Odoh Ocheme, who is now wanted and on the run, to obtain whopping $6.2 million from the Central Banker of Nigeria Account, claiming that it was requested by the Secretary to the Government of Federation… “vide a letter dated 26th January 2023 with Ref No. SGF.43/L.01/.

EFCC, the watchdog agency also alleged that Godwin Emefiele the ex-CBN Governor, in January 2023, also forged a document titled: “RE: PRESIDENTIAL DIRECTIVE ON FOREIGN ELECTION OBSERVER MISSIONS,” dated 26 January 2023 with Ref No. SGF.43/L.01/201.

As adjourned last in the court, the ex Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Boss Mustapha affirmed that the documents wasn’t from ex President of the Federation, President Muhammadu Buhari or his office…

The ex SGF, Boss Mustapha in a continuing statement in the court also told the court that the Federal Government of Nigeria had no business with foreign election observers.

Haruna, who is the sixth prosecution witness in the case also stated that the real signatures of Buhari and the Ex-SGF viewed with the signatory in the documents were not the aligned.

He further stated that, “The outcome of the analysis shows that the disputed documents has evidence of forgery and copying art as the pen movement form and formation of the signatures and the skill of execution were dated to be different from that of the evidence signatures A to A2 and B to BI

The lawyer to the EFCC, Barrister Rotimi Oyedepo (Senior Advocates of Nigeria), applied to the court to tender the forensic report dated January 25, 2024, and other documents attached as exhibits.

It has been the true character of those entrusted with such high position/power to see themselves as all in all, there must be a separate agency checkmating the CBN actions on Monetary and Policy activities while in operation (ie. While each CBN governor is In office), to avoid the kind of colossal damage Emefele Central Bank Regime did to Nigeria and Nigerians(even lives were lost not just funds) as a whole.
