Arsenal midfielder Sambi Lokonga has officially joined La Liga’s Sevilla on a season-long loan for the 2024-2025 campaign. The 24-year-old Belgian international aims to gain significant playing time and experience in one of Europe’s premier leagues.
Lokonga, who transferred to Arsenal from Anderlecht in 2021, is eager to embrace this new chapter and demonstrate his abilities on a different platform. A Monday statement from the club highlighted his excitement and the prospects of his loan move.
The announcement, titled “Sambi Lokonga has joined La Liga side Sevilla on a season-long loan,” emphasized Lokonga’s determination to maximize this opportunity, especially after not making Belgium’s Euro 2024 squad.
Last season, Lokonga was loaned to Luton Town, making 17 Premier League appearances and playing a crucial role in their return to top-flight football. Since his arrival at Arsenal, Lokonga has featured in 39 matches across all competitions and spent part of the 2022-2023 season on loan at Crystal Palace, helping them avoid relegation.
The statement underlined that this move to Sevilla is a significant step for Lokonga to further his development by competing at a high level. Arsenal extended their best wishes to Lokonga for his upcoming season in Spain.
“Everyone at Arsenal wishes Sambi all the best this coming season in Spain with Sevilla,” the statement concluded.
The loan deal is pending the completion of regulatory processes.
