Osun’s Senate Minority Leader, Olalere Oyewumni, is at the center of controversy after allegedly admitting to engaging in vote buying during the 2023 election. This purported confession surfaced in a video currently trending online.
In the video, Oyewumni, while welcoming defectors to the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), detailed his efforts to secure votes at the Onilu House polling unit. He reportedly stated, “I tried all the tricks I knew to win at Onilu House polling unit, but these people didn’t allow me.”
Oyewumni went on to describe how, after depleting his campaign funds, he resorted to using his personal money to buy votes. He allegedly instructed an individual named Ten-Ten to distribute the money on the eve of the election, only to be surprised when Ten-Ten returned with the money, reporting that people had rejected it.
The video, available on Instagram, captures Oyewumni explaining his reasons for reaching out to certain individuals and encouraging them to join the PDP, highlighting his belief in their potential and criticizing their prospects under the All Progressives Congress (APC).
