A significant fire erupted at a soap factory and plastic waste dump site on Amanato Street, Ugwagba Obosi, within the Idemili North Local Government Area of Anambra State, resulting in substantial property damage.
The blaze began around 1 am on Saturday, but the exact cause remains unknown. Witnesses reported seeing flames originating from a corner of the building, prompting immediate calls to the fire department. Despite the quick response, the fire had already caused considerable damage before firefighters arrived and managed to prevent the flames from spreading to nearby structures.
State Fire Service Chief Chukwudi Chiketa confirmed the incident, stating that firefighters were dispatched promptly at 1:40 am and successfully contained the fire by 3:40 am. Chiketa emphasized the importance of fire safety, noting that while no lives were lost in this incident, fire prevention is crucial.
