The identities of the soldiers killed by gunmen in Aba on Thursday have been disclosed.
On Friday, the military high command confirmed that at least five troops stationed at the Obikabia Junction Checkpoint in Obingwa Local Government Area, near Aba in Abia State, were killed.
The fallen soldiers include two sergeants, two corporals, and one lance corporal. Their names are:
– Sergeant Charles Ugochukwu (94NA/38/1467)
– Sergeant Bala Abraham (03NA/53/1028)
– Corporal Gideon Egwe (10NA/65/7085)
– Corporal Ikpeama Ikechukwu (13NA/70/5483)
– Corporal Augustine Emmanuel (13NA/70/6663)
The attackers also stole five AK-47 rifles, set fire to two military patrol Hilux vehicles, and injured two civilians.
