A delegation from the Warri and Uvwie kingdoms of Delta State visited Ajayi Crowther University in Oyo State on Wednesday to investigate the circumstances surrounding the death of Alex Timileyin, a student allegedly beaten to death by his peers last Saturday. Alex, reportedly a prince in both kingdoms, had his body discovered in a dysfunctional mortuary.
The delegation included Alex’s uncle, Yemi Emiko, and Efe Ofobruku. They shared videos of their visit on Facebook, with Yemi Otuedon, a member of the delegation, explaining their mission to uncover the truth about Alex’s death. The group met with university officials before heading to the mortuary to assess the situation.
During their visit, the delegation inspected the scene of the beating and Alex’s residence. They expressed shock at the poor living conditions and noted that the university had tidied up the deceased’s room. At the mortuary, they found Alex’s swollen body, bearing severe injuries, and observed that the facility was not operational, housing no other corpses.
Otuedon highlighted the visible injuries on Alex’s body and criticized the university’s actions, calling for justice and condemning the institution for its apparent neglect and mishandling of the tragic incident.
