Abuja, Nigeria – The Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) has launched a new slogan, “Simplifying Tax, Maximising Revenue,” replacing the previous “It Pays To Pay Your Tax.” This change is part of the agency’s ongoing efforts to restructure and improve taxpayer services.
In a statement released on Friday, Sikiru Akinola, Technical Assistant (Media) to the FIRS chairman, revealed that the new slogan emerged from an internal competition, with Mohammed Gidado from Bauchi State submitting the winning entry. FIRS chairman Zacch Adedeji commended the new slogan, noting that it aligns with the agency’s mission and strategic goals.
FIRS has also established a Customer Service Optimisation Committee aimed at enhancing taxpayer experiences and promptly addressing inquiries. The committee will review current practices, identify areas needing improvement, and implement changes to streamline processes and boost service delivery. Adedeji emphasized the importance of excellent customer service in today’s fast-paced environment, highlighting its role in ensuring taxpayer satisfaction and compliance.
Chief of Staff Tayo Koleosho noted that the slogan competition and other initiatives were part of strategic reforms within FIRS. Approximately 950 staff members participated in the competition, with plaques and cash prizes awarded to the winner and runners-up, Shehu Hauwa Abubakar and Sanni Kabiru.
