He is a is a member of various professional bodies within and outside Nigeria, including Doctoral Fellow Institute of Leadership Manpower & Management, Doctoral Fellow Institute of Global Peace and Conflict Management, Member Institute of Security & Strategic Studies, Member American Society for Industrial Security, Member Chartered Institute for Public Management and Member International Red Cross Society.
Ukpong hobbies are sports and exploration, he has interest in the socio-political development of the country at all levels. He is the Patron, Ukpong Hope Empowerment for Less Privileged (U.H.E.L.P) Foundation and BoT member, Jubodlink Foundation for the less privileged.
Ukpong has been undertaking several humanitarian activities within Akwa Ibom State since 2005, touching the lives of the motherless children, the needy in the hospitals, and the youth through U-HELP Foundations.
