Dr. Nonye Soludo, the wife of the Anambra State Governor, has called for improved welfare, love, and kindness towards children nationwide, emphasizing the need to give them a sense of belonging and hope for a brighter future.
Soludo made this appeal during a visit to the Model Community Children Home in Awka on Sunday, as part of this year’s Children’s Day celebrations. She stressed that children, particularly those in orphanages, require love, care, and compassion, especially during this period.
During the visit, Soludo personally cooked for the children, served the meals, and donated various relief items, including cash. She highlighted the importance of nurturing and protecting children, regardless of their family background.
“Children’s Day is a significant occasion to assure children that their future is bright and that they are valued. They are the future of our nation and deserve the utmost care and protection. By cooking and serving their meals, I aimed to demonstrate motherly love and assure them that society has not forgotten them,” she stated.
Soludo also underscored the government's ongoing efforts to ensure child safety through numerous humanitarian programs and urged everyone to create safe and nurturing environments for children.
Rev. Sister Philomena Akuchukwu, Coordinator of Model Community Children’s Home, expressed gratitude to Mrs. Soludo, describing her as caring and God-fearing. She pledged continued prayers for a better Anambra and the successful re-election of Governor Chukwuma Soludo.
The celebration featured various activities, including cooking, serving meals, cutting a Children’s Day cake, games, and other presentations by the children, with Mrs. Soludo and her entourage in attendance.
