Nigeria Police Make Significant Strides in Crime-Fighting and Security Efforts
Delta State, Nigeria – The Nigeria Police Force has reported notable progress in combating crime and restoring security in Delta State and beyond. This follows the tragic incident in Ohoro Forest, Ughelli, where police officers were ambushed and murdered, resulting in the loss of thirteen police rifles.
In a press release issued on Tuesday via X, Force Public Relations Officer ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi announced that the Force Intelligence Department Intelligence Response Team (FID-IRT) has successfully recovered ten of the stolen rifles. The recovery occurred during a coordinated operation that involved a gun battle with the suspects.
"Following the recent tragic events in Ohoro Forest, Ughelli Delta State, where police officers were ambushed and murdered, resulting in the loss of thirteen police rifles, the FID-IRT has successfully recovered ten of these firearms," Adejobi stated.
The statement further detailed that during the operation, several suspects were neutralized, and police reclaimed ten stolen weapons along with additional arms used by the assailants.
In another major development, the Nigeria Police addressed the kidnapping crisis on the Lagos-Ibadan expressway by arresting suspects involved in these criminal activities.
"Moreover, the Nigeria Police has addressed the kidnapping crisis on the Lagos-Ibadan expressway by arresting six members of a notorious kidnapping gang," the statement continued.
Inspector General of Police Kayode Egbetokun emphasized the Force's commitment to minimizing crime through effective intelligence gathering and operational deployment.
"The IGP reassures the public that the Police will continue to utilize all necessary measures to combat crime nationwide, prioritizing the safety and security of Nigerian citizens through diligent and proactive efforts," Adejobi stated.
Egbetokun reiterated his leadership's determination to ensure a safe environment for all citizens and expressed gratitude for their support and cooperation.
