Just in: Benue State Implements Ban on Late-Night Public Events

Curfew

In a bid to address growing concerns over criminality and political violence, Benue State has enacted stringent measures, including a ban on public events extending beyond 10 pm.

Governor Hyacinth Alia signed an executive order establishing the Department of Public Order, aimed at coordinating government policies to maintain public order.

The new regulations prohibit families from holding wakes past 10 pm and farming in specific urban areas.

Violators of these rules face fines ranging from N20,000 to N500,000, or imprisonment, depending on the severity of the offense. Governor Alia emphasized the need for strict adherence to these laws and announced the establishment of advisory committees at both state and local levels to ensure compliance and advise on matters of public safety.
