Keyamo Suspends Helicopter Landing Levy Collection

Festus Keyamo, the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, has announced a temporary suspension of helicopter landing levy enforcement. This decision came after a meeting with the Executives of Airline Operators of Nigeria and was confirmed in a statement by Odutayo Oluseyi, the Head of Press, in Abuja. The suspension took effect on May 30, 2024.

The Federal Government had previously authorized Messers NAEBI Dynamic Concept Ltd to collect these levies at aerodromes, helipads, and airstrips. However, concerns from industry stakeholders about the appropriateness of these fees prompted the suspension.

In response to these concerns, Minister Keyamo has formed a committee comprising members from the Ministry of Aviation and Aerospace Development, its relevant agencies, Airline Operators of Nigeria, International Oil Companies, and Messers NAEBI Dynamic Concept Ltd. This committee is tasked with addressing the issues raised by stakeholders and is expected to submit a report by the end of June 2024. The committee's recommendations will guide future actions regarding the levies.

More details to follow.
