The Obi of Onitsha, HRH Igwe Alfred Nnaemeka Achebe, has declared that relief has finally come to Abia State after 24 years of hardship. This announcement came on Friday during the inauguration of three newly reconstructed roads in Abia State.

The three roads—Old Court Road, Ehi Road, and Kent Road—were rebuilt under the administration of Governor Alex Otti. Speaking at the event, Igwe Achebe praised Governor Otti, describing him as "God-sent" and emphasizing the significant positive changes in Abia and Aba, a city that was once a prominent business and industrial hub.

"Aba used to be number one in business and industry, but since Otti took office a year ago, things have changed dramatically," Igwe Achebe stated. "By God's grace, these positive changes will continue throughout his four-year term. The people must support him to ensure the benefits of democracy are realized."

Governor Otti explained that the decision to reconstruct the roads came after careful inspections. He expressed satisfaction with the progress, noting, "Three months down the line, the roads are standing strong." He emphasized that his administration is committed to serving the people and thanked both the contractor and the state Ministry of Works' direct labor agency for their efforts.

In addition to the road projects, Governor Otti announced plans to transform Enyimba Hotels Aba into a five-star hotel and convention center. This initiative aims to elevate Aba to one of the top cities in Nigeria.

State Commissioner for Works, Otumchere Otti, provided details on the road projects, stating that Old Court Road is 561 meters long and Kent Road is 1.2 kilometers long, both featuring drainage systems and solar-powered street lights. He noted that these improvements address longstanding issues, as Old Court Road had been a refuse dump and Kent Road a pool of water.

The Speaker of the Abia State House of Assembly, Emmanuel Emeruwa, also attended the event and assured a strong working relationship with Governor Otti for the betterment of the state.
