The Military Taskforce, responsible for maintaining peace in Plateau State, has declared eleven individuals wanted in connection with recent violent attacks. Deputy Commander Tezungwe Iyua of Operation Safe Haven announced this at a press conference in Jos on Friday.
The wanted individuals, all male, are identified as Muhammadu MP, Muhammed MOPOL, Rabiu Ibrahim, Buba Sobe, Senfos Gaine, Nahaska Boderi, Dudi Mohammadu, Habu Mohammadu, Ja’afaru Matakala, Hassan Waje, and Sanusi Dafor. According to Iyua, these men are implicated in various attacks that resulted in numerous deaths and extensive property damage across the state.
Significant incidents cited include attacks on Barkin Ladi and Bokkos Local Government Areas on Christmas Eve 2023, as well as further violence in Bokkos and Mangu Local Government Areas on April 19-20, 2024, and May 8, 2024. These attacks led to additional casualties and destruction.
Iyua emphasized that Operation Safe Haven remains committed to protecting lives and property in the region, despite occasional disruptions by adversaries. The taskforce has conducted intelligence-led operations, resulting in several arrests and the identification of suspects. Forensic examinations have revealed the identities of those still at large, leading to the current wanted status of these nine individuals.
The Deputy Commander urged anyone with information on the whereabouts of the suspects to contact Operation Safe Haven, the Nigerian Police Force, or the Department of State Services. He assured a reward for tips leading to arrests. Iyua reiterated the determination of security agencies to bring the perpetrators of violence to justice and called for continued public cooperation in providing credible information to ensure the safety of law-abiding citizens in Plateau State and surrounding areas.
