The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has introduced an upgraded platform for reporting cybercrime, aiming to strengthen its efforts to address digital threats. The new portal, managed by the NPF National Cybercrime Centre, is now live and replaces the previous site.
In a statement released on Thursday, NPF spokesperson ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi announced the launch, stating, "The Nigeria Police Force is pleased to inform the public about the introduction of a more robust and secure domain for reporting cybercrime-related offences, reinforcing our commitment to improving digital safety and security."
The upgraded platform can be accessed at [https://nccc.npf.gov.ng/ereport/signin], with the old site [https://incb.npf.gov.ng] now discontinued. This new domain offers enhanced security to protect user information, a user-friendly interface for efficient reporting, and improved tracking and response mechanisms to ensure timely action on reported cases.
The Inspector General of Police urges the public to utilize this platform for reporting any cybercrime activities, emphasizing that vigilant and prompt reporting can significantly aid police efforts in combating cybercrime in Nigeria and beyond.
The implementation of the Cybercrime Act 2015, which provides a unified legal, regulatory, and institutional framework for addressing cybercrimes in Nigeria, has received mixed reactions. The Act aims to streamline the prohibition, prevention, detection, investigation, and prosecution of cybercrimes in the country.
