Hon. Comrade Makua Emmanuel, a renowned Nigerian author, Founder of Youth Nigeria Media and political activist, has issued a bold call to the government to fulfill its responsibilities amidst the nation's recent challenges.
Emmanuel criticized the national assembly for passing the bill to change the national anthem, stating that this is not the priority citizens elected legislators to address.
He emphasized that Nigeria will achieve acclaim if the government takes decisive actions such as reducing the cost of governance and increasing the minimum wage to 150,000 naira. Additionally, he called for a reduction in petrol prices to 350 naira per liter, provision of substantial grants or loans for the youth, and the release of unlawfully detained individuals like Mazi Nnamdi Kanu.
Emmanuel argued that Nigeria will be celebrated if citizens can afford basic necessities, if politicians' salaries are reduced by 30%, and if government officials strive to make Nigeria as developed as Dubai. He stressed the importance of resolving insecurity issues to ensure citizens can sleep peacefully at night.
Further, he urged for a leadership shift away from corruption towards a vision that secures the country's future. Emmanuel called for the resignation and accountability of the INEC Chairman over electoral malpractices, the provision of uninterrupted 24-hour electricity, improved care for the elderly, and enhanced healthcare facilities.
He also advocated for 24-hour street lighting and for the voices of common citizens to be heard.
In a direct appeal on his Facebook handle, Emmanuel addressed key political figures including the President, Vice President, Senate President, Deputy Senate President, Governors, and other officials, urging them to tackle the pressing issues facing the nation.
