Leicester City FC has announced the departure of three key players, Marc Albrighton, Kelechi Iheanacho, and Dennis Praet, as their contracts expire this June. The club is still in discussions regarding the future of midfielder Wilfred Ndidi, whose contract is also set to expire this month.
Marc Albrighton, a celebrated figure at Leicester, leaves after a decade of service, during which he made 313 appearances and won the Premier League, Emirates FA Cup, FA Community Shield, and Sky Bet Championship. Albrighton’s tenure includes scoring Leicester’s first-ever UEFA Champions League goal against Club Brugge in 2016, making him one of the club's most cherished players.
Kelechi Iheanacho ends his seven-year spell at Leicester, having joined from Manchester City in 2017. The Nigerian international scored 61 goals for the club, including the decisive goal in the 2021 FA Community Shield final against his former team.
Dennis Praet, who arrived from Sampdoria in 2019, made 107 appearances and netted five goals for Leicester. His departure marks the end of his four-year stint with the club.
Leicester City expressed gratitude to all three players for their significant contributions and wished them success in their future endeavors. The club’s statement also highlighted ongoing discussions with Wilfred Ndidi about his future at Leicester beyond this month.
