Pop star Justin Timberlake was charged with driving while intoxicated and subsequently released from police custody, his attorney confirmed. Timberlake, 43, was arrested early Tuesday morning in Sag Harbor, New York, while driving a 2025 BMW.
Police reports state that Timberlake was observed around 12:37 a.m. operating his vehicle in an intoxicated condition, failing to stop at a stop sign and not maintaining his lane. When stopped by an officer, Timberlake admitted to having "one martini" and claimed he was following friends home.
Court documents allege that Timberlake exhibited bloodshot, glassy eyes and a strong odor of alcohol. He also reportedly showed signs of impaired attention, had slowed speech, was unsteady on his feet, and performed poorly on field sobriety tests. Timberlake refused a chemical test three times.
The singer was arrested and held overnight for arraignment. He was also cited for running the stop sign and failing to stay in his lane. Timberlake was released without bail and is scheduled to appear in court on July 26, which is expected to be a virtual hearing.
Timberlake had left the American Hotel in Sag Harbor shortly before his arrest, according to a source. He is currently on tour promoting his latest album, “Everything I Thought It Was,” with his next performance set for Friday at Chicago's United Center.
Despite his legal troubles, Timberlake shared a heartfelt tribute to his sons on Instagram over the weekend, celebrating Father's Day with his family.
