Governor Biodun Oyebanji of Ekiti State has announced the appointment of Professor James Olaleye as the Special Adviser on Land, eGIS, and Survey. This appointment will be effective from July 1, 2024, according to a statement released by the Governor's Special Adviser on Media, Yinka Oyebode, on Wednesday.
In congratulating Professor Olaleye, Governor Oyebanji emphasized the importance of leveraging Olaleye's extensive expertise in Surveying Engineering to advance the state's land administration, urban renewal projects, and environmental safety initiatives.
Professor Olaleye's distinguished career began with a First Class Bachelor’s degree in Surveying from the University of Lagos in 1981, followed by a Master’s degree from the same institution in 1984, and a PhD from the University of Brunswick, Canada, in 1992. His academic journey saw him rise from Graduate Assistant to Professor at the University of Lagos, where he served until his retirement in December 2023.
Specializing in Digital Mapping, Hydrography, and Geomatics, Professor Olaleye brings a wealth of experience in resource mapping and modern survey methods. He has also been recognized internationally, receiving the award for best paper publication from the American Society for Photogrammetry in 1994.
Governor Oyebanji expressed confidence that Professor Olaleye's appointment would significantly enhance the administration's strategic objectives in land and environmental management.
