Lawmakers Propose Six-Year Single Term for President and Governors, Advocate Regional Rotation
In a bid to amend the 1999 Constitution, members of the House of Representatives are pushing for the introduction of a six-year single term for the President and Governors, along with a rotational Presidency among the six geo-political zones of Nigeria.
Representing the group, Ikenga Ugochinyere, who serves the Ideato South/Ideato North Federal Constituency of Imo State, emphasized the benefits of these changes during a statement in Abuja on Monday.
Ugochinyere highlighted that the proposed amendments aim to reduce government expenditure, enhance governance efficiency, and promote national stability.
