Mediation talks to resolve the standoff over a new minimum wage between the Federal Government, the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), and the Trade Union Congress (TUC) are currently underway at the National Assembly Complex in Abuja.
The meeting, held in the Senate wing, is attended by prominent lawmakers including Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Speaker of the House of Representatives Abbas Tajudeen, Deputy Senate President Jibrin Barau, Senate Leader Opeyemi Bamidele, House Leader Julius Ihonvbere, and the Chairmen of the Senate and House Committees on Labour, Employment and Productivity, Diket Plang and Gboyega Adefarati.
High-ranking officials representing the Federal Government include Secretary to the Government of the Federation George Akume, Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy Wale Edun, Minister of Budget and Economic Planning Atiku Bagudu, Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment Doris Uzoka-Anite, Minister of Science and Technology Uche Nnaji, Minister of Information and National Orientation Mohammed Idris, and Head of the Civil Service of the Federation Folasade Yemi-Esan.
Representing the organized labour are NLC President Joe Ajaero, TUC President Festus Osifo, and other key labour leaders.
