Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has voiced strong support for President Bola Tinubu's economic reforms, emphasizing their potential to steer Nigeria towards long-term sustainable growth. Speaking at the annual Bareke event in Ilorin, Governor AbdulRazaq reassured Nigerians of better days ahead despite current economic challenges.
"These reforms are designed to refocus our economy and secure sustainable growth," AbdulRazaq said. He acknowledged the immediate impacts on purchasing power but called for patience and support as initiatives are rolled out to ease the strain on citizens.
The Bareke festival, a vibrant cultural celebration held on the second day of Muslim festivals, saw the Governor hosting the Emir of Ilorin, Dr. Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, and his chiefs at the Government House.
In his remarks, AbdulRazaq highlighted his administration's efforts in infrastructure, agriculture, and economic programs aimed at elevating the state's status. He noted significant investments to support vulnerable households and promised that Kwara would not lag in implementing a new national minimum wage.
The Governor praised the Emir for his support and for transforming the Ilorin Durbar into a major national attraction. "Tomorrow's Durbar, like other cultural events across our state, reflects our rich heritage. I urge everyone to participate peacefully and enjoy these festivities," he added, announcing that the event would be streamed live on Kwara TV and Radio Kwara.
The Emir commended AbdulRazaq for his extensive contributions to the state's development, expressing pride in the Governor's achievements and support for his leadership. He highlighted the Governor’s national recognition and prayed for his continued success.
Senior Adviser Saadu Salahu lauded AbdulRazaq's transformative leadership, noting widespread public approval of his governance.
The event saw attendance from various dignitaries, including parliamentarians, state officials, and religious leaders, underscoring the administration's broad support base.
