Sports: Concerns Arise Over Potential Match Fixing Between Enugu Rangers and Enyimba United

Clinton Uba, a prominent news publisher and former Chief Press Secretary to the Speaker of the Abia State House of Assembly, has voiced serious concerns about the integrity of the upcoming football match between Rangers International of Enugu and Enyimba of Aba. Uba is urging for the match to be televised live to prevent any possible tampering.

In an urgent appeal to the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) and the Nigerian Professional Football League (NPFL), Uba proposed that if live broadcasting is not feasible, the match should be postponed. He emphasized that live coverage would ensure the match is played fairly, free from intimidation or harassment of any team or its supporters.

Uba's concerns are rooted in claims that officials and fans of Rangers International, spearheaded by a notable social media influencer, have prematurely declared their team as the league champions. Such declarations, according to Uba, jeopardize the credibility of the league.

To maintain the integrity of the league, Uba asserted that live televising the match would eliminate any doubts about the legitimacy of the results. He called on key figures in Nigerian football, including NFF President Ibrahim Musa Gusau, the Abia State Commissioner for Sports, and Enyimba Chairman Kanu Nwankwo, to ensure transparency and fairness.

As the league leaders gear up for this eagerly awaited oriental derby, Uba's call underscores the pressing need for accountability in Nigerian football.
