Program Details:
The European Commission offers two types of Blue Book Traineeships: an Administrative Traineeship and a Translation Traineeship with the Directorate-General for Translation (DGT).
The program is inclusive, welcoming eligible candidates regardless of citizenship, gender, race, color, ethnic or social origin, religion, beliefs, minority status, disability, age, or sexual orientation.
Trainees work throughout the European Commission, primarily in Brussels, Luxembourg, and other EU locations. The program includes a variety of social and non-formal learning activities, such as football and wine-tasting, organized by the trainees.
Eligibility Requirements:
To qualify for the European Commission Blue Book Traineeship Program, applicants must:
- Hold a minimum three-year higher education degree (EQF 6 level), equivalent to a complete Bachelor’s degree, with official confirmation from the university.
- Have no more than six weeks of prior work experience in any EU institution, body, agency, delegation, with MEPs, or Advocates General at the EUCJ.
- Possess strong language skills:
- For the administrative traineeship: Proficiency in two official EU languages, one being a working language (English, French, or German) at C1 or C2 level, and the second at B2 level or higher.
- For non-EU nationals: Only one procedural language at C1 or C2 level.
- For the translation traineeship: Ability to translate into your main language (usually your mother tongue) from two other official EU languages:
- Main language must be an official EU language.
- First source language must be a working language of the EU (English, French, or German).
- Second source language can be any official EU language at B2 level or higher.
