Bomb Alert Triggers Evacuation at Basel-Mulhouse Airport Amid Olympics Turmoil

An evacuation occurred at Basel-Mulhouse Airport, situated on the Swiss-French border, following a bomb alert, as confirmed by French police.

The evacuation took place shortly after a 'massive, coordinated arson attack' severely disrupted France's rail network, just before the Olympics opening ceremony on Friday.

On Friday morning, the terminals at Basel-Mulhouse airport were evacuated, and all flights were temporarily halted.

"For safety reasons, the terminal had to be evacuated and is currently closed," stated the Basel-Mulhouse EuroAirport on its website.

However, the airport's website now indicates that it has 'reopened and all flight operations are gradually restarting.'

This incident follows significant fires at crucial French installations, which stopped train services and impacted approximately 800,000 passengers, just hours before the Olympic opening procession on the River Seine.

As of now, no group has claimed responsibility for the attacks, and French authorities have not identified any suspects.
