A 19-year-old woman has been arrested for allegedly collaborating with her boyfriend to kidnap an elderly pastor.
During a press briefing, Edo State Commissioner of Police, CP Funsho Adegboye, disclosed that the suspect, who claims to be an undergraduate, deceived the pastor into opening his gate by pretending to be the wife of a church member in distress.
"She was crying and asking for help, claiming to be the wife of a church member. When the pastor opened the door, the rest of the gang ambushed him at gunpoint and kidnapped him," CP Adegboye explained.
The Commissioner advised parents to closely monitor their children's activities and friendships. He revealed that the suspect witnessed one of the gang members handing a gun to her boyfriend, and stated that her boyfriend coerced her into participating in the crime.
During interrogation, the suspect claimed ignorance of the plan, alleging she was forced into the criminal act.
