American music mogul Sean Combs, also known as Diddy, has been implicated in the 1996 murder of rapper Tupac Shakur, according to newly revealed court documents.
The Bad Boy Records founder is accused of paying $1 million for Shakur’s assassination, with suspect Duane “Keefe D” Davis, who was arrested last year, named in the documents, reports the U.S. Sun.
The papers, filed on Thursday, July 18, name Diddy 77 times under his various aliases including Puffy, Puff Daddy, and his legal name, Sean Combs.
“Defendant [Keefe] has publicly asserted that he only incriminated himself and did not provide evidence against anyone else in his conversations with police. However, this statement contradicts his claim, as he suggested that Sean Combs paid Eric Von Martin a million dollars for the killings,” the documents read in part.
In one transcript, Davis reportedly testified to Diddy’s involvement in the murder of Tupac.
When asked by police, “Puffy Combs… Does he play a role in this thing?”, Davis replied, “Yeah, I think he did.” Davis recounted that Diddy told him and about 45 others that he “would give anything” for Suge Knight’s “head” due to fear and a personal issue with Shakur after the release of a diss track.
Prosecutors filed the documents to oppose Davis’ latest bail request, which was denied last month over concerns about the source of the $112,500 bail bond.
It remains unclear if Diddy will be subpoenaed or indicted as part of the ongoing case.
