COOU Vice Chancellor Condemns Unlawful Student Arrests and Vows Protection
The Student Union Government's Attorney General reported incidents of indiscriminate arrests, harassment, battery, assault, and unlawful detention of students by a specific security agency to the Acting Vice Chancellor, Professor Kate Omenugha. Disturbed by these actions, Professor Omenugha promised to prioritize the students' interests over her own. She strongly condemned the arrests, particularly those occurring at odd hours in students' lodges, calling them unacceptable and unwarranted. She warned against future occurrences, ensuring that under her leadership, students' rights would be protected and no infringements tolerated.
Today, Professor Omenugha met with relevant agencies to address and resolve the issue of unlawful arrests in the student community. She urged students to remain calm and avoid engaging in unlawful activities or behaviors that could attract security attention. She assured that no innocent student would be intimidated under her watch.
Her actions demonstrate her commitment not only to the growth of “COOU: The Now University and of the Future” but also to the safety and well-being of its students. The Attorney General of COOU, on behalf of all students at ULI, IGBARIAM, and AWKA campuses, expressed deep appreciation for Professor Omenugha's dedication, love, humility, and plans for the future of COOU.
