Nigerian pastor, Abel Damina, challenges traditional Christian beliefs, asserts inclusivity of heaven
Abel Damina, the senior pastor of Abel Damina Ministries International, has sparked debate by declaring that God is not a Christian and urging his followers to rethink the notion that only Christians can enter heaven. During a sermon on Monday, Damina emphasized that significant biblical figures such as Abraham, David, and Jesus Christ were not referred to as Christians.
Damina argued that the term "Christian" was coined by non-believers in Antioch and that heaven was accessible to believers before the advent of Christianity. He pointed out that figures like Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Moses, and even Jesus were not Christians, highlighting that true discipleship and belief are not confined to Christianity.
The pastor’s controversial views extend to his advice on dealing with pornography addiction. He suggested that addicts should continue watching pornography while simultaneously immersing themselves in the teachings of the word of God, believing that over time, the holy teachings would overshadow and eliminate their addiction.
This approach has met with backlash, particularly from conservative Christians. Pastor Gideon Odoma of Fortress Ministry criticized Damina’s stance, labeling pornography as a perversion and urging believers to avoid trivializing sinful behaviors.
Damina’s remarks continue to stir discussions within the Christian community, prompting both support and criticism for his unconventional perspectives on faith and morality.
