Osimhen’s £113 Million Price Tag Hinders Potential Premier League Transfer

The future of Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen hangs in the balance as the summer transfer window intensifies. Despite scoring 17 goals in 32 appearances during the 2023/24 season, Osimhen's £113 million release clause, added to his contract six months ago, is proving to be a significant obstacle for interested clubs.

Chelsea, Arsenal, and Paris Saint-Germain have all expressed interest in the Napoli forward. Chelsea, reportedly considering a player-plus-cash deal involving Romelu Lukaku, may revive their interest according to CaughtOffside. Journalist Fabrizio Romano noted via X that Osimhen remains a potential target for PSG, especially if they offload a striker this summer. Saudi Pro League clubs have also shown interest in the Nigerian international.

Contrary to these reports, some sources suggest that Chelsea has cooled its pursuit due to concerns about Osimhen's injury history and fit under new manager Enzo Maresca. Maresca, in a recent interview, emphasized a cautious approach to transfers, focusing on creating the right team culture.

Arsenal's efforts to sign Osimhen are constrained by financial limitations. Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio reported that the Gunners are far from meeting the release clause, with their previous summer spending necessitating careful adherence to Profit and Sustainability Rules. Di Marzio mentioned that if Osimhen leaves, Napoli's top replacement choice would be Romelu Lukaku, with Artem Dovbyk from Girona as an alternative.

As the transfer window progresses, Osimhen’s situation remains dynamic. With PSG possibly seeking a replacement for Kylian Mbappé and both London clubs in need of striking reinforcements, Osimhen’s potential move could become one of the summer’s most captivating transfer stories.
