Dallas Alexander, a veteran sniper from the Canadian military known for being part of a team that holds the world record for the longest confirmed sniper kill, has weighed in on the recent assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump. In a video posted to his Instagram and X accounts, Alexander expressed his belief that the 20-year-old shooter who fired at Trump's rally on Saturday night must have had assistance from an agency, organization, or the government.
Alexander, who spent 14 years on a sniper team providing close protection for major world leaders, including the Canadian prime minister, stated his familiarity with security protocols at such events. He found it highly unlikely that the shooter could have positioned himself so close to the stage in broad daylight without internal help.
"You cannot, in broad daylight, get onto a rooftop within, what looked like a couple hundred yards of the president. You can't get in that position with a gun when there's a president speaking. It cannot be done," Alexander insisted. He emphasized that even a non-sniper would recognize the obvious security lapse.
The shooter, identified as Crooks, was on the roof of a building just 130 yards from Trump, firing in full view of the crowd. Alexander remarked that it was too conspicuous and suggested that someone might have turned a blind eye or strategically planned the attack.
Alexander further questioned the shooter's skills, pointing out that someone capable of evading multiple layers of security should not have missed the shot. The bullet intended for Trump narrowly missed his right cheek and struck his ear.
"I think it's going to be a while before we know the full story, but my opinion is that this guy had help from somewhere, and that's obviously concerning," Alexander concluded.
The FBI has stated that the shooter acted alone and did not have any accomplices. Alexander’s JTF 2 sniper unit holds the record for the longest sniper kill, made in May 2017 when a McMillan TAC-50 rifle shot traveled 2.2 miles to kill an ISIS terrorist.
