EndBadGovernance: Nigerian Army Arrests Officer for Shooting 16-Year-Old Protester in Kaduna

The Nigerian Army has confirmed the arrest of a soldier who fatally shot a 16-year-old boy, Ismail Mohammed, during the ongoing EndBadGovernance protest in Kaduna State.

The incident occurred on Tuesday when Nigerian troops were deployed to the Samaru community in Zaria to disperse protesters. The soldiers were enforcing a curfew imposed by the Kaduna State Government.

According to a statement from Nigerian Army spokesperson Onyema Nwachukwu, the troops responded to a distress call about hoodlums gathering in Samaru, burning tires, and throwing stones at security personnel. Upon arriving at the scene, the soldiers attempted to disperse the crowd. During the confrontation, a soldier fired a warning shot, which tragically resulted in Mohammed's death.

The Nigerian Army has arrested the soldier responsible and is conducting an investigation into the incident.
